THE FIRST CARGO SHIPPING OF TANGGUH LNG

Jakarta, 6 July 2009 - On this day, the first LNG(liquefied natural gas) cargo have been delivered from the Tangguh LNG project in West Papua, Indonesia to LNG POSCO terminal in Gwangyang, South Korea by using the Tangguh Foja ship. This first export marks the start of Tangguh project operation in the period of approximately four years since the project get an official permission from the Government of Indonesia in March 2005.

The Head of BPMIGAS R. Priyono said: "The first cargo shipping of LNG from Tangguh is one of important momentum for the history of the national upstream oil and gas industry. As the third of LNG center in Indonesia, the first cargo shipping is expected to be able to strengthen Indonesia's position as one of the LNG producers in the world, as well as a source of additional state revenues. Tangguh project is expected will be the trigger of strategic industries development in Eastern Indonesia."

Tangguh LNG project is a project that can be considered as a successful project. It is able to absorb the local and national workers for more than 10.000 workers in the peak period of the project, the settlement of Tangguh project is appropriate with the timeline, moreover the project is located in isolated area with the limitations of infrastructure. Investment value of this project is reached around U.S. $ 5 billion.

BP Indonesia president William Lin added: "This achievement is a direct result from the combination of expertise and commitment which are integrated in staff, partners and contractors from Indonesia and abroad. Tangguh LNG is a great example of what can be achieving with the strict planning and project management, and fully support by the government and the local community."

Tangguh field is consists of six gas fields from the production sharing contract of Wiriagar, Berau and Muturi in Bintuni area, West Papua. The gas which produced from the two unmanned offshore ship’s bridge are channeled through the pipe along the 22 kilometers to the two gas solvent plant, each of it has a production capacity of 3.8 million tons of per year. Train 1 starts to begin the LNG production to the first cargo in mid-June while the Train 2 is also expected to start operating in this quarter.

Tangguh is operated by BP Indonesia, with 37.16% shares. Other partners in the project are MI Berau BV (16.3%), CNOOC Ltd. (13.9%), Nippon Oil Exploration (Berau) Ltd. (12.23%), KG Berau / KG Wiriagar (10%), LNG Japan Corporation (7.35%) and Talisman (3.06%).
